Orthopaedic Surgeon Joseph Cohen, Specialist in Treating Trauma Injuries, Joins Loyola Medicine
Joseph Cohen, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in treating traumatic injuries in children and adults, has joined Loyola Medicine.
MAYWOOD, IL – Joseph Cohen, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in treating traumatic injuries in children and adults, has joined Loyola Medicine.
Dr. Cohen treats patients recently injured in accidents as well as patients with broken bones that fail to heal (nonunions) or heal improperly (malunions).
"It is very rewarding to help patients return to their pre-injury way of life." Dr. Cohen said.

Dr. Cohen has extensive training in repairing hip socket (acetabular) fractures, and performs hip, shoulder and elbow replacement surgeries.
"I listen carefully to my patients," Dr. Cohen said. "Only they know what they are going through. I take the time to explain the treatment and expected outcome, and make sure family members are equally well informed."

Dr. Cohen earned a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at University of Chicago Medicine and a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at the University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center.
Dr. Cohen is an assistant professor in the department of orthopaedic surgery of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He sees patients at the Loyola Outpatient Center in Maywood.
