Program Helps 'Underserved' Burr Ridge Area Neighborhood

BURR RIDGE, IL – An "underserved" neighborhood next to Burr Ridge is the beneficiary of a program that aims to help its residents get places, officials said Wednesday.

The Pace bus service is joining with DuPage County to pilot the Rideshare Access Program, which aims to use companies such as Uber.

Officials said the program will bring affordable rides to residents in the Hinsdale Lake Terrace community, which is southwest of Burr Ridge.

"This pilot program represents our commitment to addressing transportation challenges in this underserved community," DuPage County Board Chairwoman Deb Conroy said in a news release. "Through this partnership, we hope not only to enhance mobility, but empower residents through access to job opportunities, healthcare, education, and more. This initiative is another step toward improving the quality of life and fostering economic growth in Hinsdale Lake Terrace and beyond."

The program is set to help residents reach local destinations and transit connections in places such as Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Willowbrook and Woodridge, according to the news release.

Riders will be responsible for any charges beyond the subsidy amount, including tips and additional fees, officials said.
