Repairman Dispute, Deer In Park: Burr Ridge Cops

Man tells police he is certain that repairman damaged his air conditioner, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — The latest Burr Ridge police blotter shows that police handled a variety of situations, including an angry person who apparently wants officers to ticket truck drivers. Here is information from the blotter:

Trucks

  • Police received a complaint May 22 from the 16W400 block of South Frontage Road. When an officer called the person back, the person yelled, "Write the trucks tickets!" The person would not answer his phone after that.
  • A man in the 16W400 block of South Frontage Road reported May 22 that one of his semi-trucks was stolen because the driver went to his house in Pennsylvania and was not answering his phone. An officer told the man the Burr Ridge police would not get involved because it was a civil matter. The man said he would reach out to his attorney for further advice.

Damage

  • A resident in the 8000 block of Garfield Avenue told police May 22 that a liquid line to his air conditioner was damaged. He said he thinks a man who worked on his air conditioner in June 2017 did a bad job. As a result, they got into an argument. He does not have video or proof that the man was responsible for the damage, but he was certain he did. He said he wanted the damage documented.
  • A woman told police that someone struck her 2008 Mercedes-Benz on May 19 while it was parked in the lot outside Chiro One, 316 Burr Ridge Parkway.
  • A hit-and-run accident happened about 10 p.m. May 20 at McDonald's, 9101 S. Route 83. A man said a pickup truck struck the rear of his Chevrolet. The other driver stopped, got out, said he was not insured and then left. Police were unable to find the driver.

Parades

  • An officer assisted with a birthday parade about 4:30 p.m. May 20 in the 11600 block of Briarwood Lane.
  • Two officers assisted with a graduation parade at 5:30 p.m. May 20 in the 8700 block of Grant Street.
  • An officer conducted a birthday parade about 4 p.m. May 21 in the 10 block of Clubside Court.

  • A baby deer was seen lying down next to the basketball courts near 74th Street and Wolf Road about 3:30 p.m. May 20. It appeared healthy. An officer told two concerned residents that the mother deer leave their young alone during the day and the best thing to do was leave it alone.
  • A resident in the 11600 block of White Oak Court told police about 9 p.m. May 21 that a few people, possibly children, banged on the front door and ran away. An officer spoke with a nearby dog walker, who said she saw a few children running before the officer's arrival. Police were unable to find the children.
  • A Florida resident called Burr Ridge police May 20 out of concern for her son's widow, who lives on Todor Court in the village. She said she called her son's widow recently for the first time in two decades and heard the widow's brother yell at the widow to get off the phone. The Floridian wanted local police to check on the widow's well-being. An officer spoke with the widow, who said there were no problems at the residence and that her brother did not want her talking to the Floridian because of past family issues with her.
