Scam At Burr Ridge Interchange: Police
Man who flagged down woman exchanged fake jewelry for money, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — A woman ended up the victim of a scam last week when she was flagged down by a man at the Burr Ridge interchange of Interstate 55 and County Line Road, according to a police report. On June 21, the woman stopped for the man, who offered her gold jewelry in exchange for $500. He said his father was sick in Dallas and needed the money, police said.
The woman drove the man to Chase Bank and gave him the money. She later took the jewelry to a pawn shop and was told the jewelry was fake, the report said.
