Scam Falsely Represents Burr Ridge Cops: Village

Police are asking residents not to trust caller ID information, as it can be easily changed.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A Burr Ridge resident received a phone call Monday that appeared on caller ID as coming from the Burr Ridge Police Department, according to a village news release.

Police said they do not cold call any residents requesting personally identifying information.

"If you receive a call like this, do not provide any information to the caller and hang up," the village said. "If you wish, you may make a report to the police department. Please note the date and time you received the call, and the phone number of the caller. You may report in person at our station or call to have an officer respond."

The police department also said it does not solicit money to support unions or police charities.
