Sidewalk Projects To Start In Burr Ridge
The village plans to put a sidewalk on the only missing section of a road that links Burr Ridge to Hinsdale.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge trustees on Monday approved sidewalk projects on Garfield Avenue and Kraml Drive.
They chose West Chicago-based Triggi Construction, which was the low bidder at $441,000. It was lower than the engineer's estimate by more than $20,000.
With Garfield Avenue, the village wants to build a sidewalk on the only missing section of the 2½-mile road between Burr Ridge and Hinsdale. Willowbrook installed a sidewalk on its missing portion earlier in the summer.

For Kraml, the village is replacing a sidewalk.
Earlier this year, village trustees placed Kraml and 79th Street as higher priorities for sidewalks. But their thinking changed after residents near Garfield lobbied officials and circulated a petition for their area. The Village Board then made Garfield a priority.

Duane Hong, who lives on Grant Street, was among the residents who pushed the Garfield project.
At Monday's board meeting, Hong said he didn't know whether to thank the village for choosing Garfield or be disappointed for the village taking as long as it did. He noted the Willowbrook portion is now done.
"When there are safety issues at hand, we have to act swiftly," Hong said.
The village expects the sidewalk projects to be done this year.
