Stolen Jeep Draws Police Interest: Burr Ridge Cops
An officer decided against a pursuit when the Jeep sped away, police said.
BURR RIDGE, IL — A Burr Ridge police officer followed a Jeep that was listed as stolen about 5 a.m. Sunday, but the driver sped away and the officer decided against giving chase, police said. A little earlier, another officer checked a law enforcement database for the license plate number of the 2017 gray Jeep, which he saw at Briarwood Drive and Clynderven Road. The officer learned the Jeep was stolen, turned around and tried to find the Jeep, but was unsuccessful.
A few minutes later, another officer noticed the Jeep in the 6200 block of Garfield Street and saw four people inside, police said. The Jeep proceeded through a red light and went east on Plainfield Road from Garfield, then sped away. The officer said he did not try to follow the Jeep because of "overall dangerous conditions."
