Too Many People In Burr Ridge House?

Village police finds the complaint about living arrangements unfounded.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police received a complaint late last month that too many people were living in a house on 75th Street. A caller told police that there was a belief that the resident was renting rooms to 20 to 30 people in the house because 10 to 15 cars were parked in the driveway, according to a police report.

When police investigated, they found six cars in the driveway, five of which were registered to the homeowner or the homeowner's business. The other car belonged to the babysitter.

The homeowner said she lives in the house with her husband and five children, the report said. She said they do not rent to anyone and no one else stays there with them.

The complaint was listed as unfounded.

In Burr Ridge, two or more persons related by blood or legal adoption can live in a single-family house, said Doug Pollock, the village's administrator. A village ordinance limits such a house to two long-term guests or renters.

Pollock said village rules also bar the owner of a single-family house from sectioning off parts of it to create apartments.
