Toxic Chemicals At Burr Ridge Firm Concern Neighbors
The business is asking for the village's permission to store the chemicals.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A pest control business is seeking zoning approval to store toxic chemicals on site, a proposal over which neighbors are expressing concern.
The proposal is for OPC Pest Services, 8238 S. Madison St. It is a unit in an industrial building that is across the street from houses.
The business promised to follow industrial safety practices. It said the Tri-State Fire District has inspected the unit and approved the request.

Neighbors questioned the proposal.
"I am very concerned about the storage of large quantities of toxic substances so close to residential properties and Gower Middle School," Madison Street resident Mary Ann Emanuele said in an email to the village. "Madison St is a very popular walking/biking area for students, residents and pets, all who would be impacted by unhealthy chemical inhalation."

Resident Agnes Tylka said the village should carefully consider whether Burr Ridge is the appropriate location for such substances.
"I believe businesses that require the storage of these materials should be located in areas specifically designed and zoned for such activities, with appropriate safety measures and greater separation from populated areas," Tylka said.
Resident Peter Cison took the same position in a similarly worded email to the village.
The village's Plan Commission plans to consider the request at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Gower Middle School.
