Unlocked Cars Burglarized In Burr Ridge: Police

Two cars were stolen, one from a fitness club parking lot, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — A number of unlocked cars were burglarized and two cars stolen in recent days, police said. Here are the latest reports from the Burr Ridge Police Department:

  • A 2015 Mercedes was stolen from a garage on Stirrup Place about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 3. A 2011 Porsche was taken from the same house's driveway, but it died a few houses away.
  • A resident reported his car was burglarized overnight on Carriage Way Drive. The resident informed the police about 6:30 a.m. Jan. 3, but he said he could not make a full report because he was leaving to go to work.
  • An unlocked 2016 Honda was burglarized between 8 p.m. Jan. 2 and 8 a.m. Jan. 3 in the driveway of a house in the 7200 block of Hamilton Avenue. A wallet containing $100 and a driver's license was stolen.
  • An unlocked 2014 Ford was burglarized overnight in the 7300 block of Giddings Avenue. The report was made shortly before 10 a.m. Jan. 3. Someone rummaged through the car.
  • An unlocked 2015 Dodge was burglarized overnight while it was parked in driveway of a house on Parkview Place. The report was made about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 3. A garage door opener was stolen.
  • An unlocked 2016 Hyundai was burglarized overnight while it was parked in the driveway of a house in the 7200 block of Central Avenue. The report was made about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 3. About 30 gift cards were stolen.
  • A 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck was burglarized between 5 p.m. Jan. 2 and 6:15 a.m. Jan. 3 while it was parked in the driveway of a house on Carriage Way Drive. The report was made about 6 p.m. Jan. 3. It was the homeowner's work truck. A vest and vehicle manual were reported stolen. The police blotter did not say whether the truck was locked, but no forced entry was reported.
  • A 2011 BMW with the keys inside was stolen between 5:30 and 7:10 p.m. from the parking lot at Lifetime health club, 601 Burr Ridge Parkway.
  • An officer noticed two teens in the back seat of a 2012 Acura kissing about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 3 on Village Center Drive. Because neither person had a valid driver's license, the officer called a relative to pick them up.
  • A woman reported to police that she was at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 4 when she left her jacket unattended. She said when she returned, her AirPods were missing from the jacket. After an officer checked video footage, he asked her to check her purse again. She did and found the AirPods.
