Unlocked Village Hall, Panhandling: Burr Ridge Cops
An officer reported finding Village Hall unlocked in the middle of the night.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police have responded to reports of suspicious people and semi-trucks illegally parked, among other things. Here is the information from Burr Ridge police reports:
- A police officer discovered the front doors to Village Hall, 7660 County Line Road, unlocked about 1:30 a.m. May 5. The officer secured the doors and found no signs of criminal activity.
- Police were called about a suspected panhandler at 10:30 a.m. May 6 at the Pace lot on Burr Ridge Parkway. An officer found the suspect, who said she just left the Extended Stay America hotel and was waiting for a ride. She denied she was panhandling. She left in an Uber.
- A driver struck a guardrail about 5 a.m. May 5 near County Line Road and Interstate 55. The driver said he fell asleep while driving. No injuries were reported.
- A resident in the 8300 block of County Line Road informed police that several unfamiliar cars at all hours of the day and night have been driving on a long driveway near her house. The driveway services three houses, none of them hers. She believed the cars were going to a house that is abandoned and for sale or to a house occupied by a couple elderly residents who said they had not seen the cars. The extra traffic may be related to the property for sale, police said.
- Burr Ridge police responded to a call that drivers of a BMW and Nissan were doing doughnuts in the parking lot at Trinity Lutheran School, 11503 German Church Road, about 7:30 p.m. May 5. The call was to assist the Willowbrook Police Department. A Burr Ridge officer found the suspect in the BMW at German Church and Wolf roads. The BMW driver admitted to doing doughnuts. The Nissan driver was not found. Willow Springs police were notified, but did not respond.
- A person complained to police May 6 about semi-trucks running in the parking lot at 16W485 S. Frontage Road. Two officers issued tickets to the drivers of numerous semi-trucks and box trucks that were illegally parked in the lot. Some trucks left after being ticketed.
- Police received a call about a suspicious person about 9:30 p.m. May 6. An officer found a woman just south of 15W090 N. Frontage Road. The woman said she was fine and waiting for her husband to pick her up. She was reported as evasive and may be homeless. She repeated many times she did not need or want police services.
- A woman was seen lying by the side of the 8200 block of County Line Road about 1 p.m. May 7. The woman, who appeared fatigued, said she was homeless and was unable to answer all the paramedics' questions. She was taken to the hospital in Hinsdale for further evaluation.
- Three officers took part in a birthday parade about 1 p.m. May 7 near 83rd Street and Ridgepoint Drive. "Birthday girl was happy," the police report said.
