BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge's Savoy Club Court is a public street, but police said a local woman was accosted and told she could not walk there.

On the evening of Aug. 22, the woman said a resident on Savoy Club was upset and told her she had no right to walk in a private subdivision, according to a police report. She said he called her a "bitch" and a "hillbilly."

When she informed police, she asked an officer whether she was trespassing. The officer said he would find out from village officials and clarify the situation. The officer also said he would warn the man about the abusive language, the report said.

Burr Ridge Patch couldn't get an immediate explanation from the village on how it would handle the situation. At the entrance to the neighborhood, there is what appears to be a guard shack and a sign reading, "Private Community." If Savoy Club Court is listed as a public street, that would mean the public is free to walk on the street and its sidewalks.

The neighborhood connects to 79th Street. On the other side of 79th is Dana Way, among other streets. It's unclear where the woman lives, but real estate websites show that the houses on Savoy Club Court cost more than those across 79th.
