Zealous Solicitor, Revoked FOID Card: Burr Ridge Cops

Solicitor continued going door to door after an encounter with a police officer, report says.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police received calls about a door-to-door solicitor who wouldn't quit May 27. About 2 p.m., police got a complaint about the solicitor near 87th Street and Aintree Lane. The solicitor said he was going door to door talking to his customers. An officer told him about Burr Ridge's solicitor rules and advised it may be best to speak to his customers over the phone, according to a police report. Later in the day, the solicitor was issued a citation for soliciting without a permit.

Here is information from recent Burr Ridge police reports:

  • An officer informed a resident in the 7900 block of Garfield Avenue on May 29 that his firearm owner's identification, or FOID, card was revoked. He acknowledged that his card was revoked, but could not surrender it because he was unable to find it. He said he transferred his guns over to his son and daughter, who have valid cards.
  • The driver's side and passenger's side rearview mirrors were damaged on a 2013 Volvo XC90 overnight May 26 in the 6300 block of Garfield Avenue.
  • Police were told about a suspicious car about 11 p.m. May 27 at 161 Tower Drive. An officer told the car's occupants to find an alternative place "to be romantic," the report said.
  • A citizen informed police May 28 he was having difficulty convincing Burr Ridge Senior Living, 16W301 91st St., to allow him to collect his deceased mother's belongings. The executive director of the facility said no outside people are allowed inside the facility because of the coronavirus pandemic. The director was willing to accommodate the request, but larger items would have to remain until the health bans are lifted. An officer presented his findings to the citizen, which he appreciated.
  • An officer told a group of teenagers about 4 p.m. May 28 at Citizens Park, 10S474 Madison St., that the skate park was still closed. The teens then left the area.
  • Akira Ariel Roberts, 22, was cited about 2:30 a.m. May 29 at 60th Street and County Line Road on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was stopped for speeding. Her car was towed. She was released on bond.
  • Three police officers helped with a birthday parade about 3 p.m. May 29 at 11766 Woodside Court.
  • A resident in the 16W300 block of 93rd Place informed police May 29 that his landlord's father keeps trying to do work in the house, but the tenant did not want anyone there. There is no formal rental agreement. The officer advised the tenant get such a contract to spell out who is allowed in the house. The officer told the father not to go into the house without permission. He said he understood.
  • A rear door to Burr Ridge Village Hall, 7660 County Line Road, was ajar about 5 a.m. May 30. The front door has been found unlocked at least three times in recent weeks.
  • The owner of Falco's Pizza, 16W561 S. Frontage Road, complained May 30 about a white Chevrolet parked in the lot for more than a day. He wanted it off his property, but the owner has refused. Three officers spoke with the car's owner and asked him to leave the property and that he was not allowed there anymore. The man yelled an obscenity and said that the situation was not over and that he would be back.
  • An officer took part in a birthday parade at 3 p.m. May 30 at 7306 Chestnut Hills Drive.
  • A resident in the 800 block of Village Center Drive complained about 10 motorcycles speeding in the area about 6:30 p.m. May 30. They woke up her two babies. She was not sure which direction they went.
  • A resident in the 1100 block of Laurie Lane informed police May 31 that his son's live-in girlfriend charged the resident with her shoulder after an argument, knocking him into a bookcase. He was not injured and just wanted the incident documented as well as the verbal abuse that she has been inflicting on him and his son. The officer said the resident would have to evict the woman if she does not leave on her own.
