Champaign Police Continuous Recruitment Testing Process

26 candidates completed oral interviews in separate remote locations Aug. 5.

On July 30, 2020, the Champaign Police Department (CPD) partnered with the Human Resources Department (HR) to conduct the second recruitment cycle of the Police Continuous Recruitment process. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of staff and canidates is paramount during public safety recruitment testing. Working together, HR and the National Testing Network/Ergometics introduced a new virtual process for Police candidate oral interviews.

Candidates appeared in person at their designated interview time and met the required PPE and social distancing standards. All candidates responded to the same five interview questions (three minutes per question) with each response recorded. Twenty-six candidates completed the oral interviews in separate remote locations on August 5, 2020. A panel with three assessors will evaluate the pre-recorded candidate interviews.

The Police Continuous Recruitment Tentative Eligibility list will be presented to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for recommended approval in August 2020. The next Police Continuous Recruitment application process will begin in January 2021.
