Champaign Police Investigating Armed Robbery

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.

On March 22, 2020, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the Circle K gas station located at 1501 North Neil Street for a reported armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a male subject entered the business, displayed a black handgun, and demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of currency and cigarettes, the suspect fled east on foot from the convenience store. No injuries were reported to Champaign Police, and there were no other patrons in the store at the time.Suspect

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’06”-5’09” tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, gray sweatpants, brown shoes, and what is believed to be a black curly wig partially covering his face.

Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.
