In order to access and connect to a gas main, Ameren Illinois will be closing two southbound lanes of Mattis Avenue between Green Street and John Street. The closure began on Monday, June 22. Although scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, recent rain extended the closure by a day. The closure is scheduled to reopen on Thursday evening, June 25, 2020. As a reminder, this work is weather dependent and may again be delayed in the event of inclement weather.

Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and shifted through the work area. In order to keep vehicles moving through the intersection, left turns onto John Street will be restricted for both southbound and northbound traffic. John Street traffic will not be interrupted by the closure. Message boards have been stationed to provide advanced notice of the closures. Drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route as the closure may cause congestion for southbound traffic.
