The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a home at 4412 Curtis Meadow Dr., Thursday, March 19, 2020, at 9:26 p.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in the single-family home.

Firefighters responded to a neighbor’s report of a fire in the two-story home. Once on the scene, fire crews reported smoke and flames coming from the side of the home. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines into the home. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire that was found in the laundry room of the home.

The cause of this fire is undetermined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter injuries reported. No one was home at the time of the fire.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
