Urbana Police Department officers are cracking down on those distracted by using their phones while driving.

URBANA, IL — The Urbana Police Department officers are targeting distracted drivers. On Tuesday morning, the department said officers were conducting a traffic detail until 1 p.m., targeting that group of drivers. By the time officers were wrapping up, they reported nearly 30 traffic stops.
According to Urbana Police Department's Facebook page, the majority of those July 31 traffic stops resulted in citations for illegal cell phone use.
According to a report by The News-Gazette, this is a regularly scheduled effort at Florida Avenue and Race Street by the department, as law enforcement officials notice distracted driving at this particular area.
