Vehicle Used In Missing Scholar's Abduction Found: FBI

Yingying Zhang was last seen near the University of Illinois on June 9.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — The FBI on Tuesday said it has located the Black Saturn Astra linked to the disappearance of missing University of Illinois visiting scholar Yingying Zhang. The FBI also said it has received additional leads on the vehicle, although officials would not release any additional information, including where the Astra was found, according to WANDTV.

Zhang, 26, was last seen getting into the vehicle June 9 in Urbana. Authorities have labeled the case a kidnapping but said they aren't ruling out other possible scenarios.

U of I police said they are investigating whether Zhang may have hailed a ride with a service like Uber or Lyft. She was reportedly on her way to sign a lease at an apartment complex when she vanished. Surveillance video from a parking deck shows her speaking with the driver of the Astra before getting into the vehicle.
