Wedding Guest Admits To Stealing Married Couple's Money: Police
A Champaign wedding guest brought money he claims he stole from cards at a recent wedding to police officials.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — The state's attorney's office is deciding whether an invited guest at a recent Champaign wedding will be charged after they say he admitted Monday to stealing money from the married couple's cards. News-Gazette reported the guest at the wedding, which took place at the I Hotel and Conference Center Saturday, has been told to come to court next month after he made the confession to police.
According to the news report, University of Illinois police spokesman Pat Wade said the 61-year-old man came to the police department to discuss what happened during the wedding, bringing the $220 he claims he took from envelopes addressed to the newlyweds.
Wade told News-Gazette that a couple of wedding reception guests saw the man with open envelopes and told the couple what they had seen, leading the couple to call the man's wife and UI police to share what they were told.
