2 Die In RV Fire At Love's Travel Center Near I-80: Coroner

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan's office pronounced both victims dead on the scene at 3:46 a.m. near Morris.

MORRIS, IL — Two people died in an overnight RV fire at the Love's Travel Center along Brisbin Road near the Interstate 80 corridor for Joliet and Morris. Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said his agency is investigating the fatal RV fire, and the victims have not been identified, yet.

The fatal fire broke out around 3 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of Love’s Travel Center, located at 8909 N. Brisbin Road, Morris. The fire happened in an RV parking area that is away from the building. The building was not damaged by the fire, coroner's officials told Patch.

Callahan said the Morris Fire Protection District Firefighters discovered a fully engulfed RV. After extinguishing the fire, the firefighters discovered the remains of two unidentified victims.

Callahan said both bodies were pronounced dead at 3:46 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning and the fire remains under investigation by Callahan’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Morris Police Department, Morris Fire Protection District and MABAS Division 15 Fire Investigators assisted at the scene.
