2 ID Thieves In Braidwood Need To Be Caught, Police Say

The husband and wife have ties to the East Coast, Braidwood Police informed Joliet Patch.

BRAIDWOOD, IL —A husband and wife who have ties to the state of Maine are wanted by the Braidwood Police Department in connection with charges of aggravated identity theft. Four felony charges were filed last week against co-defendants Vincent Teruel and Amanda Teruel. The pair had been living in the 200 block of South Kankakee Street in Godley.

According to Braidwood Police Detective Christopher Altiery's complaint, the Teruels obtained the bank account number of a local senior citizen to fraudulently obtain goods valued between $300 and $10,000 between Sept. 29 and Oct. 15.

During that period, Vincent Teruel and Amanda Teruel knowingly used a JP Morgan Chase credit card belonging to the same senior citizen with the intent of committing the crime unlawful use of another's credit card, their second charge reflects.

On Oct. 14, Vincent Teruel used the stolen credit card to make a purchase at the Dollar General in Braidwood "and the value of all the items obtained or sought exceeded $300 in any six month period," the complaint reads.

The fourth charge, unlawful use of another's credit card, indicates that Amanda Teruel used the older woman's credit card at the same Dollar General store, on Oct. 15, according to Braidwood Police.

Last week, Will County Judge David Carlson set a $500,000 bail for the couple. Vincent Teruel is 42. His wife is 36.

This week, Braidwood Police notified Joliet Patch that Amanda Teruel has been wanted by the state authorities in Maine.
