Bathing a Pet has Become Easier

If you have children, you know that bath time can be a battle.

The same can be said if your a pet owner trying to fit your cat or dog into a bathtub too.

Once you get to The Dog Wash, you place your pet into one of the six bathtubs. A larger dog will have the luxury to use the walk-in shower facility. Various shampoos and conditioners are available for use at no additional charge. So are towels and heavy duty blow dryers.

Auburn Tyssen, owner of The Dog Wash Inc. said the self-serve bathing facility has been open since last November. 

“People like to come in and get the wash done quick,” Tyssen said. “I have seen some people wash their dogs better than groomers do.”

Tyssen said she will assist customers in getting their dogs into the tubs. The blow dryers are so powerful that they remove loose hair better than if the pet owner used a hair brush on his or her pet.

In addition to customers utilizing the self-serve wash, Tyssen said she offers pet grooming, including nail trims.

Janna, a Minooka resident, who declined to give her last name, said she would definitely be coming back to The Dog Wash. Saturday was the first time she brought her dog Roxie to be bathed.

“Roxie was very relaxed and not stressed out at all,” Janna said. “This place is excellent. It was so much easier on my back and I liked the different levels on the hair dryer.”

Janna also noted that Tyssen was extremely helpful during her and Roxie’s time at the shop. 

“We will be regular customers,” Janna said.

Tyssen originally started her grooming business in Channahon as On the Spot Mobile Pet Grooming. 

She would drive her special van, equipped with a bath tub, a dryer, generator and other necessities to the homes of her feline and canine customers. 

However, after seven years, Tyssen said she needed a change. That’s when she decided to open the self-wash for pets.
