WILMINGTON, IL — Zachary Palmer, a 26-year-old from Wilmington's Van Buren Street, was booked into the Will County Jail on Thursday afternoon hours after his grand jury indictment at the Will County Courthouse.
Palmer is being charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and two crimes of aggravated speeding. The Wilmington Police Department was responsible for obtaining the indictment.
The court files show that Palmer was driving a Chrysler 300 sedan on Zilm Road in Wilmington back on April 11 "at a speed that was 35 miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit." Another charge accuses Palmer is driving that same Chrysler 300 sedan more than 35 mph over the speed limit along Wilmington's River Road.
As for the most serious charges, Palmer is accused of possessing that Chrysler 300 "knowing it to have been stolen and the value of the vehicle was $25,000 or greater," the indictment reads.
