MORRIS, IL — A Sunday night stabbing victim is fighting for survival as the Morris Police Department investigates whether any arrests should be made in connection with the violence at The Pub, which is in the 200 block of West Gore Road.
According to the department's Facebook post, Morris police and ambulance responded to the stabbing at The Pub at 11:56 p.m. Morris police say a man and his girlfriend were patrons when an argument happened with another bar patron.
"During the incident, another party of multiple individuals inserted themselves into the confrontation. Staff members intervened and directed everyone to leave the establishment," Morris police revealed.
Outside The Pub, police say the disturbance continued and intensified.
"During the altercation, the adult male, who was outnumbered, produced a pocketknife and stabbed one of the other party members multiple times," the police announced. "The adult male and his girlfriend left the scene."
Morris police said it was the man who used his knife in the stabbing who called 911 and reported the incident. The responding officers found one person at The Pub suffering from serious injuries. They were taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to a regional trauma center for more treatment.
Morris police said they detained the man who reported the incident and spoke with him.
"The circumstances surrounding the altercation, including the actions of all involved parties and any potential claims of self-defense, remain under investigation," police said. "The case will be reviewed by the appropriate prosecutorial authority for charging consideration."
