Brian Vecera, age 57, of Dwight, IL, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 at Loyola University Medical Center. He was born on April 21, 1969, in Joliet, IL, the son of the late Paul and Mary Jo (nee Hogan) Vecera.

Brian was dedicated to his career working as a Maintenance Mechanic at Argonne National Laboratory, where he truly loved his work and valued his coworkers. A man of many talents, he could fix just about anything and was always tinkering with a project, eager to learn how things worked. He had a passion for old cars, motorcycles- especially his beloved Harley- and anything that offered a little speed and excitement. Brian was known for wearing many hats throughout his life, and he excelled at whatever he put his mind to. He had a special bond with his cats, earning him the title of “The Cat Whisperer.” Brian cherished time spent with his family, embraced the heat of the summer, enjoyed taking small getaways, and loved exploring new restaurants. An adventurous cook, he was always experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen with his wife, Kristy.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Kristy; daughters, Elizabeth (David) Seward, Madison Vecera, and Jayda Ford; grandchildren, Matthew and Harper Seward; brother, David (Richard) Vecera; sister, Karen Hoefle, and step-brother, Donald Kling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Vecera and Mary Jo Vecera; sister, Nicki Putts and his step-mother, Gail Vecera.

A Memorial Gathering for Brian will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in honor of his beloved Father and Sister.
