Art is Everywhere

Art abounds in our local communities and we have opportunities to share arts with our children.

Last week I had the pleasure of heading to in Joliet for its Artisan Fair. The event raised money for Guardian Angel Community Services. Artists shared their creations, which varied from jewelry to paintings to books. The event was fun and the creativity was inspirational.

Speaking of creativity - do you have kids who like to act? There is a local destination that will channel that creativity. The Three Rivers Arts Council is home to a spring break camp that is theater-themed. The Children's Theater Spring Camp, called "The Confetti Kids," is the brainchild of . Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a special performance at 6 p.m. April 6. Camp is open to children from 6 to 13. Information is available on the TRAC Web site.

Need an activity for your children who are not interested in theater? The Channahon Park District has a spring break camp as well. Each day is themed. Information can be found by going to the Channahon Park District Web site and clicking on the "spring break camp" link.

Lastly, it might be a little early for me to be mentioning it, but the whole Channahon and Minooka community will be turning out for the annual St. Baldrick's event at Channahon Skateland Recreation Center. Last year, Channahon-Minooka Patch at the event and we will do so again this year. So come on over and see us at the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., March 31. We will have prizes and the event is a great time.
