Bathroom Fire Put Out At Channahon Jr. High: Cops

The incident happened around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.

CHANNAHON, IL - Channahon authorities say there was a small fire reported on Wednesday morning inside the boys locker room at the Channahon Junior High School. The smoke was quickly smoldered and the rest of the school day will continue as normal, police said.

According to the Channahon Police Department, officers went to the Channahon Junior High School to help the Channahon Fire Protection District around 8:45 a.m. with the fire alarm.

"Smoke was reported in the boys’ locker room. Students and staff were immediately evacuated and 100 percent accountability of all was obtained," a press release states.

Firefighters found a fan in the locker room and the smoke was stopped. Police said that no one was hurt and students returned to class about 45 minutes after the fire alarm sounded.

"There is no further threat. Channahon Jr. High will operate on the normal schedule and end of the school day pick-up will take place at the regularly schedule times. Buses will operate on normal schedules as well," police said.
