Braidwood Man Faces DUI No. 4
Wilmington police officers made the arrest of Gary Joseph Wilson during the early morning hours of July 11.

WILMINGTON, IL — A 56-year-old Braidwood man has hired one of Joliet's top criminal defense lawyers to challenge his latest arrest on drunken driving charges. The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has charged Gary Joseph Wilson with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence and one count of aggravated driving while license revoked. This marks Wilson's fourth arrest on drunken driving charges, court files show.
Wilson was under the influence of alcohol on July 11 when he was driving a Mercury on Water Street in Wilmington, according to the criminal complaint. Wilson has three prior DUI convictions: March 29, 1999, in Will County, Aug. 28, 1992 in Kankakee County and Feb. 8, 1990, in Florida, court files in Will County show.
According to the felony complaint, Wilson "knew or should have known that the vehicle he was driving was not covered by a liability insurance policy."

The third felony charge states that Wilson's driver's license was revoked or suspended at the time of his July 11 traffic stop in Wilmington and that this marks his eight violation of driving while revoked, according to court records.
Wilson's previous offenses occurred in Will County on April 20, 2016, Oct. 28, 2010, in Will County on Nov. 30, 2006, in Will County on July 18, 2001, in Grundy County on Dec. 2, 1995, in Kankakee County on Jan. 4, 1994 and in Will County on June 22, 1992, court records in his case reflect.

Wilson was released from the Will County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $30,00o0 bail, jail logs show. The Braidwood man has retained George Lenard, a Joliet criminal defense lawyer, as his private counsel, court files show.
