BRAIDWOOD, IL — A 25-year-old Braidwood resident, David Waldron, is now in the Will County Jail facing a $250,000 bail, after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security charged him with four crimes in connection with allegations of soliciting a child for sexual purposes in the state of Colorado.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office has charged Waldron with two counts of indecent solicitation of a child, grooming and solicitation to meet a child. The Braidwood Police Department arrested Waldron on Monday night.

Waldron's criminal complaint states that the young man in Braidwood "while using a computer, cellular telephone or any other device, with the intent to meet one whom he believed to be a child whom the defendant believed he was 5 or more years older than, knowingly solicited, enticed, induced or arranged with the child to meet at a location ... Rodman Lane, Durango, Colorado, without the knowledge of the child's parent or guardian and the meeting with the child was arranged for a purpose other than a lawful purpose under Illinois law."

The grooming charge accused Waldron of using a computer online service to entice another person believed by him to be a child under 17 years of age, to engage in any unlawful sexual conduct with another person believed by him to be a child.

Since Waldron was booked into the Will County Jail this week, Joliet criminal defense attorney Chuck Bretz has filed a motion asking for a bond reduction for his client. According to Bretz's filing, the $250,000 bail is oppressive and not considerate of the financial ability of the defendant in violation of Illinois codes.

"That bail should be reduced from the sum of $250,000 — 10 percent to apply to the sum of $100,000 — 10 percent to apply," Bretz's motion argued. "David Waldron respectfully prays that this honorable court grant his motion for bond reduction, for the reasons stated above, and for such other and further relief as this court deems equitable and proper."
