Bridge Inspections Near Channahon to Start Aug. 10
The inspections will result in weekday closures, Monday through Thursday, for two to three weeks.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that routine inspections of the Interstate 55 truss bridges over the Des Plaines River near Channahon will begin, weather permitting, the morning of Monday, Aug. 10.
The inspections, required to be conducted every other year, will result in weekday closures, Monday through Thursday, on I-55 during the daytime hours for approximately two to three weeks.

The southbound bridge will be inspected first, with daily lane closures scheduled in the southbound lanes, weather permitting, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. The inspections on the northbound bridge will follow, with lane closures scheduled in the northbound lanes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Dynamic Message Signs will be in place while the lane closures are in effect to advise motorists of travel times through the work zone. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.
