Celebrate the Fourth of July in Channahon

City will have a petting zoo, dunk tank, food, fireworks and more.

The Channahon Park District will hold its Independence Day celebrations July 4.

According to Park District Program Manager Nicole Vaira, the event starts at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a petting zoo, inflatables (a bouncy house), a dunk tank and more.

At 6 p.m., there will be a one mile Family Freedom Fun Run Walk.

“We’re also going to do a Freedom Parade, which is more of a bike parade,” Vaira said. “People can bring their bikes and decorate them.”

The bike parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and following that Bomb Pops (red, white and blue popsicles) will be given away.

The band 80’s Enough will also perform.

At 7 p.m. dodgeball will be played and at around 9:15 p.m. the fireworks will be set off.

“The fireworks will last about a half hour and then when the fireworks are over, the band will play another set until 10:30 p.m.,” Vaira said.

There is no charge to attend the event and concessions will be available.
