Father Charged With Aggravated Battery In Channahon Baby's Death
Channahon Police issued a press release late Tuesday afternoon in connection with the 10-week-old girl's death.

CHANNAHON, IL — The Channahon Police Department announced that aggravated battery charges were filed Tuesday in connection with the death of a 10-week-old girl whose parents had been living in Channahon at the Manor Motel near Interstate 55 and Route 6. Jonathan Middono, 29, has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery in connection with the death of Kora Middono.
Authorities in Channahon said that the baby girl was flown early Monday morning from the Morris Hospital to Lurie's Children Hospital in Chicago, where she died about 12 hours later.
Channahon police say that Kora suffered significant head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.

According to Channahon Police, "Kora was living with her mother and father at the Manor Motel in Channahon, but moved to the Crest Hill Inn in Crest Hill, Illinois the morning of May 30 ... (when) Channahon Police detectives interviewed Kora’s mother and father."
Although Jonathan Middono has been charged with aggravated battery, Channahon police said that additional charges "are anticipated as investigators are closely working with the Will County State’s Office. This investigation remains open and active," the press release added.

On Tuesday evening, Channahon Deputy Chief of Police Adam Bogart told Patch the baby was taken to the Morris Hospital by her parents, who told medical staff that they lived in Channahon. However, the subsequent investigation has determined that the little girl's injuries probably occurred in Crest Hill, Bogart explained.
As a result, the Crest Hill Police Department will likely take the lead as the investigation moves forward in the coming days, Bogart explained. He said it was his understanding that the Middonos also had one other child, who was older than Kora, and that child has been placed into protective custody with DCFS.
The address listed for Jonathan Middono at the time of his arrest was in the 2100 block of Plainfield Road in Crest Hill, according to Channahon Police. The arresting officer, according to the press release, was Channahon Police Detective Sgt. Matt Brooks.
Middono is now being held in custody at the Will County Jail, authorities said.
