Channahon Gas Station Thief Also Endangered Her Child: Police
Peggy and Rick Temen are accused of permitting one of their small children to crawl on the ground containing cigarette butts and dog feces.

CHANNAHON, IL — Peggy Temen, who was fired last year from Channahon's Speedway gas station after prosecutors say she stole thousands of dollars from her Route 6 employer, is also accused of letting her child crawl on the floor of her house, which contained dog feces and cigarette butts, according to Channahon police detectives.
Last week, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow charged with Peggy Temen with felony theft and in a separate criminal complaint, she and her husband, Rick Temen, are charged with child endangerment.
In the endangering the life of a child case, she and her husband are accused of permitting one of their children to crawl on the ground containing cigarette butts and dog feces while the child was unsupervised back on Oct. 7 at the couple's residence in the 23700 block of Sussex Drive in Channahon.

On Tuesday, Channahon Deputy Chief of Police Craig Gunty said there were four children inside the house when Peggy and Rick Temen were found unresponsive as the result of a suspected overdose. Channahon police believe the husband and wife were incapacitated as a result of the narcotics use, Gunty told Patch's editor on Tuesday morning.
Gunty said the children were removed from the house and placed into protective custody following the overdose of their parents.

In that case, Will County Judge Ken Zelazo has set bail at $10,000 each for 37-year-old Peggy Temen and her 45-year-old husband Rick Temen.

In the Speedway gas station case, the criminal complaint indicates Peggy Temen stole cash from her employer during the time frame of March 3, 2022, to Aug. 7, 2022. Channahon police believe that Peggy Temen stole a grand total of $3,645, during the six-month period. She was fired from Speedway at the time the company contacted Channahon police to investigate the money thefts, Gunty said.
The gas station theft case was investigated by Channahon Police Detective Ethan Anderson, who previously worked at Elwood's Police Department.
Bail for Temen in her felony theft case was set at $20,000, court records show. Rick and Peggy Temen were not booked into the Will County Jail.
The husband and wife were released from custody after posting bond with the Channahon Police Department.
