Distraught Gunman Found Hiding Behind Trampoline: Channahon PD
Gunshots were fired in Channahon shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

CHANNAHON, IL - The Channahon Police Department announced the felony arrest of a 39-year-old Channahon gunman who was described by police as being emotional disturbed. The incident prompting the arrest of William Latham occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, July 8. Police were called to the 22600 block of South Kent Road for "an emotionally disturbed man with a firearm," reports show. At least one gunshot was already fired. Police records indicate that Latham lives at the address.
When Channahon Police officers got to the house, two women and two children were safely evacuated. Around that time, the officer heard a gunshot. "While searching the property for the man, officers reported hearing one gun shot in the area behind the home," the release stated.
Eventually, Channahon police with help from other agencies, found Latham hiding in the backyard near a trampoline. He was put in handcuffs and taken to the Will County Jail, a gun was recovered at the time of his arrest, police reported.

According to Channahon Police, Latham is being charged with a Class 3 felony, unlawful possession of a gun by a felon and reckless discharges of a gun, a Class 4 felony.
"No one was injured during the incident, including the women and children at the home," the press release states.
