When and how did your business get started?

I started pet sitting in the Channahon/Minooka area in January of 1995. I have lived in Channahon since 1991 and was talking to a friend about how hard it was to get away to see my dad in Wisconsin since I had a houseful of pets. She was in the same predicament and came up with the idea of pet sitting for each other.

She had heard of people doing this for a living so we ran business card in the local paper for $4 and learned that there was a demand for this service. Nineteen years later I am running the business myself, but do have trustworthy helpers that I can count on if I ever need help. I have always loved animals and love what I do!

What is your business best known for?

I have cared for many different kinds of 'critters' over the years including dogs, cats, birds, lizards, rabbits, horses, chickens, goats and more! I also provide other services at no extra charge like getting trash out, altering lights and shades, collecting mail/newspapers to keep homes looking occupied.

I also provide plant and garden watering services as well as house checks for people that do not have pets. I have a very reasonable lawn mowing and snow removal service that I can call at my clients' request.

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?

I have lived here for 22 1/2 years and raised my son here. I love the area and the people who live here. I would not want to travel when there is a need for this service in my home town.

What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

I am registered with the village of Channahon and endorsed by the Feed Loft. I have gotten referrals from the local vets and most of my clients. I keep my rates very reasonable in order for my clients to be able to keep there pets at home, worry free.

Does your business offer a special deals card or program?

I keep my rates low for everyone. I will drop my rate $1 per visit for clients that need daily visits at least five days a week, regularly while they are at work.
