Minooka Women's Club meeting

This colorful bird was a big "hit" at the Mexican Fiesta themed dinner/meeting of the Minooka Women's Club. After a taco buffet, the business portion of the meeting began with a review of our part in Summerfest and all were in agreement with Nancy Skwarczynski's assessment that the steady crowd of children in the area proved we were correct in our choices of games. Jeannie Flannery complimented the Village of Minooka on the cooperation she has received from them spear-heading the development of the pocket park on Mondamin Street. In line with JoAnn Dollinger's mention of October's World Food Day, members voted to make a monetary donation to the Helping Hands Food Pantry housed in the annex of the MUMC. Denise Brennan showed us a picture of the Village of Minooka signs which had been enhanced to include side panels displaying insignias of the various village organizations. Members voted to cover the one-time cost to have our insignia included on these panels. Tuesday, October 4, is the date of our next meeting and the program will be presented by Jennifer Coffel of Handing H.O.P.E. - the Lollipop Tree Project - lollipops with specific ingredients given to comfort children who are battling cancer and receiving chemotherapy treatments.
