Crews Battle Huge Fire In Rural Minooka, Whether Person Was Entrapped Has Not Been Determined: Sheriff

MINOOKA, IL — Crews were battling a massive blaze at what appeared to be a large farmhouse in rural Minooka on Monday morning.

The blaze broke out along Hanson Road, between Bell Road and Holt Road. Dozens of firefighters at the scene arrived in fire engines from Minooka, Lisbon-Seward, Troy, Seneca, Joliet, Plainfield, Oswego and Braidwood. Tanker trucks were supplying the water because there were no hydrants available in the immediate area.

Kendall County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Briars issued the following press release over the noon hour:

The Kendall County Sheriff's is on the scene of an active structure fire in Minooka. The Sheriff's Office is working with the Lisbon Seward Fire Protection District as they work to extinguish the fire and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"At approximately 9:46 a.m., the Lisbon Seward Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 15000 block of Hanson Road in Minooka. The alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm. Crews are actively fighting the fire. Additional information will be released when available."

As of 12:30 p.m., Briars told Joliet Patch that authorities were informed at the time of the 911 fire call of a possible entrapment of someone inside the structure. However, hours later, the firefighters have not been able to determine one way or the other whether there was someone trapped in the structure because the fire is still going.
