The 42-year-old man from Matteson disappeared during a fishing trip along the Kankakee River on May 7.

COAL CITY, IL —Nearly three weeks after two fishermen disappeared in Kankakee, authorities in Grundy County have recovered the body of one of the men. Grundy County Coroner John Callahan announced Tuesday that the body of 42-year-old Matteson resident William Veasley was found around 5 a.m. near the Dresden Lock and Dam.
Veasley and another man disappeared May 7 during a boating incident along the Kankakee River, the coroner's office said. The body of the second man has not been found.
The Grundy County Coroner's Office said that Tuesday's autopsy determined that Veasley died from drowning. Employees at the lock and dam found his body in Goose Lake Township.
