Grandparents’ Day back at Troy schools, post-Covid
Several Troy 30-C elementary schools celebrate the family interactions
Three Troy Community School District 30-C schools rejoiced in celebrating Grandparents’ Day this year after having skipped a year due to the pandemic.
Students at Troy Cronin Elementary School met their grandparents in the gymnasium, where Principal Jill Howard read them the book, “Grandfather Tang’s Story,” which uses tangram puzzles to create animals. The families designed their own foxes, rabbits, dogs, squirrels and other animals with the project. Preschool students met their grandparents in their classrooms.
Troy Hofer Elementary School celebrated Grandparents’ Day with a luncheon and activities. Grandparents were invited into classrooms to see what their grandchildren do on school days, then they ate lunch together. The students also sang songs they learned in music class.
