Greek Isles Restaurant Offers Traditional Diner Food in a Flash
Restaurant in Shorewood is a great place for lunch, dinner or take-out.
One of my favorite things to order in a Greek diner is Grecian Chicken. Even since I was a young child, it has been my favorite. Most diners have a note on their menus that the dish takes at least 30 minutes to make. Usually, if I am going to one of my regular restaurants that I know offer the dish, including , I order as soon as I sit down.
The other day, though, on the recommendation of a friend, I visited a restaurant that served Grecian chicken without the wait.
, which is in Shorewood, on Route 59, just south of Black Road, offers a huge menu in a casual environment. And, they are super fast. On a recent visit, I ordered the Grecian chicken, which came with soup and rice.

For me, of course, the fact that the soup was made on-site was a bonus. The fact that I could eat the lemon chicken rice soup was an extra bonus. The soup is thickened with rice and egg, not flour. What a novel idea. More restaurants should do this, but then I am biased.
In addition to being fast, the food was very good. The chicken had the right amount of sauce and the soup was very, very good. The restaurant is an order and sit down and eat kinda place, but the ladies behind the counter are quick to bring something to you so you don't have to get up.

If I go back to Greek Isles, I would certainly try the saganaki. You all know how I feel about and to find it at such a casual restaurant means I will be eating it more often.
Menu prices vary from $2.95 for the lowest appetizer to $4.45 for kids menu options to $9.95 for the most expensive dinner. My chicken came in at $8.95. The restaurant also offers catering. You can reach them at 815-725-8866.
