Grundy Co. Squad Stolen, Thief Keeps Deputy's Gun
The Morris Police Department is leading the investigation. Here's what we know.

MORRIS, IL — The Morris Police Department is investigating a residential burglary to a Grundy County Sheriff's deputy's house. Morris Police say the thief stole the officer's squad car as well as the officer's gun.
The crime happened around 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
"The squad car was located (unoccupied) in the 500 block of W. Illinois Avenue. Several items were reported taken from the squad car and the residence, including a firearm," Morris Police Department announced on Facebook.

Anyone who may have information that can help solve the crime is asked to call the Morris Police Department at 815-942-2131 or Grundy County Crimestoppers at 815-942-9667.
The announcement of the crime drew lots of reaction from readers of the Morris Police Facebook page. One person commented: "That's bold! Gang initiation?"

Another person wrote, "If you think they won't dust every inch of that car for prints, you're crazy and I'm willing to guess anyone stupid enough to jack a squad car is already in the system. Is it me or are people becoming exponentially more stupid?"
A third person posted, "Wow! Stupid people. Do they think they are going to get away with this? Unbelievable!"
