House Fire In Channahon: Family Loses Belongings
Monday's fire began inside the attached garage at the two-story home and spread to the attic.

CHANNAHON, IL — A Channahon family's two-story house on West Quail Drive is now boarded up after Monday's late afternoon fire caused extensive damage.
The fire broke out around 4:40 p.m. at 24227 West Quail Drive. The Channahon Fire Protection District encountered an attached garage fire at the home and the fire spread to the attic. Everyone in the home, plus the family pets, were accounted for, according to Fire Chief John Petrakis.
The fire damage was contained to the garage’s interior and attack space. Fire damage was sustained on the second floor. Fire and smoke damage occurred throughout the home, the fire chief noted.

No injuries to the occupants or firefighters occurred.
The fire was under control at 5:12 p.m. NICOR, ComEd and Channahon village officials were summoned to the fire scene to secure the utilities. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental. No dollar loss was available on Monday night.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Minooka Fire, Troy Fire, Elwood Fire, Wilmington Fire, Lockport Fire, Morris Fire, Wilmington Fire, Braidwood Fire, and Plainfield Fire. Channahon Police assisted with scene security during the fire. MABAS Division 15 Fire Investigations Team assisted with the fire investigation.
Petrakis said that Channahon Fire Support Services Coordinator is working with the family to provide post relief and support services. 1-800-Board-Up from Joliet secured forced openings and is working with the family to recover belongings and begin the recovery resulting from fire operations.
Fire companies and investigators remained on scene until approximately 7:13 p.m.
