Hunger Games at the Library

The Channahon branch of the Three Rivers Public Library hosted a The Hunger Games-themed event Monday night.

None of the more than dozen girls in attendance at event Monday night were on Team Gale. They were all rooting for Peeta. In fact, Channahon resident Katie Southland was such a strong fan of Team Peeta that she shrieked when asked which team she was on.

The teens in attendance at the event Monday night at the were all fans of The Hunger Games, a series of books written by Suzanne Collins. Popularity of the books reached epic proportions as the movie based on the first of the three books in the series was released on March 23.

Teens began the evening playing trivia and answering such questions as, "How many siblings does Cato have?" (3), "Which District was in the Appelatian Mountains?" (12) and "How old was Gale when he met Katniss?" (14). They also created The Hunger Games-themed pins and magnets with such sayings as, "May the odds be ever in your favor," and "Here's some advice, stay alive."
