Illinois Solar Energy Association Hosts Statewide Grassroots Solar Tour October 3rd , 10 to 2pm

See how Illinois homes and businesses are using solar, wind, and geothermal to become energy independent.

There is a host site to visit in your neighborhood! The Kronberger home at 8955 E Condor Court, Minooka, is recognized as a clean energy leader for their participation on the 2015 Illinois Solar Tour. Their solar powered home will be one of over 80 sites in the state that will be holding open houses on Sat Oct 3rd from 10-2pm for people to learn what it is like to live powered by the sun.

The Kronberger’s Thermal Heating Solar System provides most all of their hot water needs during spring, summer and fall, and some supplemental heating. Warren and Marguerite report the Thermal System has reduced their home heating/hot water costs by about half.

Stop by to learn about the solar technologies your neighbors are using to 1) drastically reduce monthly energy bills, 2) reduce harmful carbon emissions, and 3) enjoy tax credits and financial incentives as they improve their property values. The Illinois tour is part of a national event coordinated by the nonprofit American Solar Energy Society. The tour will allow communities across the country the opportunity to see new, innovative technologies locally that benefit the environment on a global level.

The Tour showcases real-life examples of how individuals are harnessing free energy from the sun to generate electricity, warm and cool their homes, heat water and slash monthly utility bills. Illinois home and business owners with renewable energy installations will be providing tours on Saturday, October 3rd from 10 am to 2 pm.

Tour hosts will answer questions on how you too can harness the power of the sun and wind to fuel your home and business. “The Illinois Solar Tour showcases real life examples of the practical, economic and environmental benefits of using clean power to fuel our everyday lives,” said ISEA Executive Director, Lesley McCain. “Now, is a particularly exciting time for solar energy in Illinois as Springfield legislators consider Clean Jobs legislation that would boost opportunities across Illinois from city neighborhoods to rural farmlands.”
