Minooka gained some revenge on Oswego East during a 25-21, 31-29 Southwest Prairie Conference win in Minooka.

The Wolves kept the Indians (9-2, 3-0) from an undefeated conference season during their league championship campaign of a year ago.

“We held on against a very scrappy Oswego East team,” Minooka coach Chris Hoelscher said.

Stacey Perinar’s 13 kills, Haley Bowden’s 10 digs and Bri Marquez’s 20 assists and eight serving points led the Indians in those respective categories.

Skyler Day added five kills. Tessa Griparis had two aces, two kills and two blocks and AnnMarie Bachman came up with a pair of kills and a block.

“Skyler, Haley and Bri made some great hustle plays,” Hoelscher said. “Bri and AnnMarie each had some key blocks to seal the win.”

Boys Soccer

Minooka is under a new coach in Chris Brolley and has a new attitude.

This season, a more mature and experienced bunch is 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the SPC after a 2-1 win over Romeoville. Matt Blackmore and Joe Koenig had the goals. Kyle Hallerberg chipped in an assist.

Last year, Minooka went 4-14-2 and did not win a Southwest Prairie
Conference game.

“We already surpassed last year’s win total, so that’s a positive,” Brolley said.

Boys Golf

Minooka came away with a 165-176 Southwest Prairie Conference win over Plainfield East Thursday at Heritage Bluff Golf Course in Channahon.

Jason Chobar of Minooka led the Indians with a 38. Grant Barker had a 41 and Kent Hudson and Tom Uraski each fired 43s for Minooka.

In a 165-169 SPC dual loss to Oswego East, Chobar earned three individual league points. Minooka's Kent Hudson won 1.5 individual
league points.
