Joliet Man Tried To Strangle Channahon Woman: Complaint

CHANNAHON, IL — A 22-year-old Joliet man accused of trying to a strangle a woman in Channahon has been ordered by a Will County judge to stay away from the property in the event he makes bail. Criminal defendant Colton Hood has remained in the Will County Jail since the early morning hours of Sept. 27 when the Will County Sheriff's Office put him in handcuffs.

The criminal complaint charges Hood with aggravated domestic battery and and domestic battery. He is accused of attacking a woman who is "a family or household member in that he grabbed (her) about the neck" and that he "strangled" her, court documents outline.

Hood's bail was set at $100,000.

So far, he remains unable to post 10 percent. If Hood posts bail, Hood must stay at least 3,000 feet away from the Channahon property on West Eames Street where police say the attack occurred. Also, he will placed on GPS Monitoring as a condition of pretrial release, court documents show.

According to jail logs, Hood was staying at the house on West Eames Street, however, criminal court files now list the defendant as residing in Joliet in the 1000 block of Prairie Avenue.
