Knife At Channahon State Park Leads To 8 Charges For Local Teen
Illinois Conservation Police Officer Nicholas Honiotes conducted the investigation leading to charges against the Channahon 19-year-old.

CHANNAHON, IL — A 19-year-old Channahon resident was bonded out of the Will County Jail this week following his arrest in connection with allegations he threatened to harm several people visiting the Channahon State Park on Aug. 8 while gripping a knife.
According to the criminal complaint, Joseph M. Olson, who turns 20 in October, has been charged by the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow with six counts of aggravated assault and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
Last Wednesday, Will County Judge Vincent Cornelius issued a warrant for Olson's arrest and set bail at $10,000. The warrant noted that Olson lives at his grandparents' place in the 25300 block of South Fryer Street and "Olson sometimes lives in a shed on the property."

The criminal complaint stated that Olson, on Aug. 8, "knowingly possessed a dangerous weapon or instrument of like character, a knife, with the intent to use it against a person while he was in a public park."
There were two women and two men who encountered Olson as he was brandishing the knife at Channahon's State Park and Olson's behavior with the deadly weapon placed them in "reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery," the complaint stated.
