LIBRARY TURTLE TO MOVE ON TO NEW HOME

Sparkles the turtle, a longtime resident of the Minooka Branch of the Three Rivers Public Library District, is moving on to a new home at the Stickney-Forest View Public Library.  Estimated to be approximately 15 years old, the female red-eared slider has resided in the Youth Services Department since 2001, and has been a popular feature of the library for visitors young and old.  Unfortunately, Sparkles has continued to grow beyond the limits of her current habitat, and the library has no more space available to expand her tank.  “We are thrilled to have found Sparkles a home at another public library where she will still be able to be enjoyed by children and their families.  This was not an easy decision, but we have to do what is best for Sparkles,” said Library Director Lauren Offerman.

To celebrate Sparkles’ time at Three Rivers Public Library District, a “Farewell Open House,” is planned on Sunday, May 4th from 3:00-4:30.  Join Three Rivers Library’s staff at the Minooka Branch at 109 N Wabena Ave in Minooka, IL. Patrons can drop in any time during the party to have a cupcake and wish Sparkles well in her new home at the Stickney-Forest View Public Library District at 6800 W 43rd St in Stickney, IL.

For more information about the Farewell Open House for Sparkles, please contact the library directly at the Channahon Library 815-467-6200 or the Minooka Branch 815-467-1600, or in person at 25207 W Channon Dr, Channahon or 109 N Wabena Ave, Minooka.
