MINOOKA, IL — Last week's five vehicle chain-reaction collision along Ridge Road at Bell Road has resulted in the death of the 79-year-old motorist who was most seriously injured as a result of the wreck. The Kendall County Sheriff's Office made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
The sheriff's agency revealed that Erling Varland of Aurora has died as a result of the injuries he suffered during the crash. The wreck happened at 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 at the intersection of Ridge Road and Bell Road in Seward Township.
Kendall County noted that all five vehicles were traveling south on Ridge Road when one of the drivers slowed down to make a left-hand turn on to Bell Road; that resulted in the chain-reaction rear-end crash.
